The knurling on the surface (serrated edges to prevent slipping) is a unique design. It is set to an optimal depth to ensure a firm grip, and to prevent sharp edges from hurting your hands. Similar to the depth, we also paid particular attention to the shape of the knurling, which has a significant impact on gripping ease, and designed the barbell to provide a firm grip. Furthermore, by working with manufacturers and factories to control quality by taking these points into consideration, we aimed to create a barbell that is affordable yet allows for effective training.
The barbell collar "CL 1/4," packed with IVANKO's expertise, is included as standard. The popular "CL 1/4" barbell collar, which many customers purchase separately, features a mechanism whereby a pressure ring inside the collar tightens when the screw is turned, securing the shaft with the pressure ring (surface) rather than the screw (point). The benefits of securing with a "surface" rather than a "point" are numerous, including increased holding power, less damage to the shaft, and less peeling of the shaft's anti-rust coating (typically chrome plating). This exceptional product was designed with the risk of rust weakening the steel and ultimately shortening the barbell's lifespan in mind.
The optimal barbell varies depending on the exercise and equipment used (bench press stand, power rack, etc.). We offer four types: the IB-20 and IB-18, which have an inner size of 1333mm and are compatible with what are commonly known as wide racks; the IB-16, which is easy to use with narrow benches; and the IB-14, which is easy to use with a barbell alone for arm exercises such as arm curls.
Barbell shafts come in several different diameters for the sleeves (the part where the plates are attached), and those with a diameter of 50mm are commonly called "Olympic shafts" or "Olympic plates," and are the type commonly used in gyms. On the other hand, there are various standards for home training equipment around the world, but in Japan, the standard is often 28mm in diameter, and this product is of that 28mm. There are some differences between manufacturers, but generally speaking, there are the following differences between the two:
Priceφ50mm : tends to be expensiveφ28mm: can be reasonably priced
Features : φ50mm sleeve contains bearings and bushings, allowing the sleeve to rotate. This rotation releases the inertia when moving the barbell back and forth and side to side, making the movement more stable and reducing strain on the joints. φ28mm: The sleeve does not rotate, but there is no functional difference in exercises that involve moving the barbell vertically (such as bench presses and squats).
Other points : φ50mm: Even when doing bench presses, squats, etc. at a competitive level, you can benefit from the stabilization provided by the rotating sleeve when lifting the weight from the rack. φ28mm: When combined with a dumbbell shaft, it can be used as a dumbbell for versatility, making it ideal for home gyms. There are also dumbbell shafts with 50mm sleeves, but the 50mm plates have a larger diameter, so the dumbbells will also be larger.
Overall <br>If you are familiar with 50mm clubs at fitness clubs, or if you are just starting out but are determined to improve your performance at a competitive level in the future, it may be better to start with 50mm clubs. *In such cases, many people purchase adjustable dumbbells. On the other hand, if you are concerned about cost performance, or if you want to use dumbbell shafts and plates in combination with dumbbells, we recommend the 28mm version.
