IVANKO has been exploring the best shape for easy-lift plates, based on their history.
Plates with two grip holes were popular for a time, but as they became more widespread, problems with these plates also became apparent. When users try to lift the plate off the floor, the grip holes are not always in the direction that is easiest for them to hold. This means that users must either rotate the plate to make it easier to hold, or move it to a position that is easier for them to hold. Rotating a 20kg plate is a tiring task, and doing it in an awkward position can strain joints such as the waist and wrists. On the other hand, plates with multiple grip holes allow users to always choose the hole that is easiest for them to grab the plate from any position.
IVANKO placed great importance on this point and developed the current grip-type plate.
Furthermore, we paid particular attention to the appearance of the plate. By giving the outer edge of the plate a smooth roundness, we strived to improve safety and ease of use. The current IVANKO Easy Grip Plate can be said to be the culmination of ideas from the past.

While some manufacturers offer polygonal plates, round plates currently dominate the market, primarily due to safety reasons. Take the example of a deadlift or power clean. After a hard workout, imagine placing the barbell on the floor with the corners of a polygonal plate touching the floor first. The plate would be unstable and would move unpredictably until the flat parts (edges) made contact with the floor. This dangerous "movement" could injure your spine or joints. Even worse, once it's stable on the floor, it won't roll. So you have to force your exhausted body to return it to its proper position. With rolling round plates, you don't have to worry about that at all.
