What is Merrithew®?

In 1988, Lindsay and Moira Merrithew opened their first Pilates studio in Toronto, Canada. Sensing a growing demand for Pilates and a shortage of suppliers, President and CEO Lindsay focused on building and diversifying the business. Moira, the Executive Director of Education, certified as an instructor at a Pilates studio in New York, began training clients.

They realized that the benefits of Pilates could help people of all ages and abilities. So, they set out to simplify the method, raise awareness, and make it more accessible to a wider audience.

With a team of business, health, and fitness experts, they built their current business model, paying meticulous attention to every detail, from equipment to programming. Many of Merrithew's pieces of equipment are manufactured and assembled in their own factory in Toronto, Canada. Meanwhile, the training center at Merrithew's headquarters is the base for instructor training and educational programs. Merrithew's network of licensed training centers and distributors spans the globe, and its community of certified instructors and clients continues to grow.
