IVANKO's 50mm barbell shafts contain bushings and bearings to dissipate inertial forces and stabilize the bar during back-and-forth and side-to-side movements. While 28mm barbells do not have these bushings or bearings, there is no significant change in their functionality during vertical movements such as bench presses and squats. The plates also feature a distinctive design. Traditional dumbbells with two slots require you to align the plates before lifting. However, IVANKO plates can be lifted from any direction. Angular, polygonal plates are impractical because their corners scratch the floor or they roll in irregular directions. Therefore, IVANKO's plates are rounded. Fixed-weight dumbbells also feature flat ends to facilitate resting on the knees during the "on-the-knee" technique.
