"Spreading proper fitness is our mission."

The first Gold's Gym in Japan opened in Minamisuna, Koto-ku, Tokyo in 1995. Today, there are more than 100 Gold's Gyms nationwide. Here we introduce some of the most popular Gold's Gyms in Japan.

EAST TOKYO: The first Gold's Gym in Japan

Gold's Gym East Tokyo opened in Minami-Suna, Koto-ku, Tokyo in July 1995 as Japan's first Gold's Gym. It is the only Gold's Gym in Japan whose building was designed with the American Venice branch as its motif. When it first opened, it was located in the same Minami-Suna building, which was famous for its billiards and disco, but it later moved to its current location. The gym area has a wide, comfortable atrium and is lined with a wide variety of machines. The free weight area is also one of the most comprehensive in the country. Additionally, a martial arts area has been set up on the second floor overlooking the gym area, further livening up the atmosphere during training sessions and classes.

SAITAMA SUPER ARENAAsia's largest Gold's Gym

Gold's Gym Saitama Super Arena, the fifth gym in Japan, opened in 2000 and features a gym area with a grand space with eight-meter-high ceilings and glass windows. Saitama Super Arena has become a martial arts mecca, which has been a boon for Gold's Gym, which has a lot of martial arts content. The gym has also received a lot of media exposure. Furthermore, in April 2011, the fifth floor was expanded. With the addition of an agility space, artificial hot spring, and studio, the gym now has a floor space of over 1,000 m (3,300 m), making it one of the largest Gold's Gyms in Asia.

SOUTH TOKYO ANNEX American-sized gym

Gold's Gym South Tokyo Annex opened in 2002 in front of JR Omori Station in Ota Ward, Tokyo, as the ninth gym in Japan. The building is divided into three areas: the sixth and seventh floors and the rooftop. The sixth floor is home to one of Japan's largest gym areas at 1,500m, as well as an athletic field where SAQ and field training can be done; the seventh floor is a fully-equipped martial arts floor with numerous punching bags and a full-scale ring, where martial arts events are held on weekends; and the rooftop area where tennis and futsal lessons are held. It is truly an American-sized gym.

HARAJUKU TOKYO 24-hour workout in Harajuku, "Japan's fitness mecca"

Harajuku

Located in Harajuku, Japan's "fitness mecca," Gold's Gym Harajuku Tokyo opened in March 2002 as the seventh location in the country. Open 24 hours, it caters to the nightlife lifestyles of busy businesspeople and urbanites. Located a three-minute walk from JR Harajuku Station, the striking Velox Building housed the facility, initially consisting of just one floor on the third floor. However, the basement floor was soon expanded, and a fourth floor was added during a renovation five years after the facility opened, resulting in a total of three floors. The basement floor is home to a hardcore gym known as "Classic Gold." The third floor features a fully equipped gym area and a studio with large windows creating a bright atmosphere. On the fourth floor, members can enjoy cardiovascular training in an open atmosphere while overlooking the Harajuku and Omotesando streets. Many members enjoy working out at five different locations in the same area, each with its own unique style: Harajuku, Harajuku ANNEX, Omotesando, Minami-Aoyama, and Shibuya.

HISTORY of GOLD'S GYM USA

In 1965, a full-scale bodybuilding gym opened in Venice, California, USA, which was famous as Muscle Beach.

Joe Gold opened Gold's Gym in Venice, California, the same year that Larry Scott won the first Mr. Olympia, the most prestigious bodybuilding contest. In 1975, with the release of the film "Pumping Iron," starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, who won his sixth Mr. Olympia title, Gold's Gym became known as the "world's most famous gym," attracting bodybuilders from around the world. Also that year, the gym moved to Second Street in Santa Monica. Since then, the number of licensed gyms has increased. In 1981, the gym moved to its current location on Hampton Drive. At the time, the slogan was "Results forevery body." This slogan continues to thrive today, with Gold's Gym members achieving results in major league and professional football leagues, as well as in Hollywood, where many actors and actresses have achieved success.

In 1990, Gold's Gym celebrated its 25th anniversary and was featured in many movies and magazines, demonstrating its current catchphrase, "SERIOUS FITNESS FOR EVERY BODY." Today, it has become one of the largest training gyms in the world, with over 3 million members.
