Power Grip Complete Guide
Power Grip Complete Guide

1. What is the point of using a power grip in the first place?
In a nutshell, the purpose of installing a power grip is...
The idea is to supplement your grip strength and push the targeted muscles to their limits.
When training primarily for the back, it's very common for your grip strength to tire out before the targeted back muscles.
Naturally, the power that can be exerted by the grip strength is less than that of the back muscles.
"Even though I still have strength left in my back muscles, my grip strength reaches its limit first."
This situation often occurs, especially among beginner trainees.
In other words, even though the goal is to train your back, your grip strength becomes a bottleneck, preventing you from training your back to its fullest potential.
The power grip improves this situation.
By attaching a power grip...
①Grip support
By wrapping the power grip around the equipment, you can hold heavier weights with less grip strength, making it less likely that you will have to stop training due to grip strength limitations.
This allows you to train to your limits with heavier weights, resulting in more effective training.
② Focus on the target muscles
By reducing your focus on the act of "gripping," you can focus on moving your back muscles.
One of the five principles of training is the "principle of awareness." This principle states that you can maximize your training results by understanding and being aware of which muscles you are working.
By using power grips, you can focus on the action of "moving your back" rather than "gripping," allowing you to train more effectively.

2. Is a power grip necessary for beginners?
Conclusion: Power Grip is a training gear that even beginners should definitely use.
This is the No. 1 gear you should use from the very first day you start training.
For beginners who have just started training, most people don't know how to use their back muscles, and ask questions like, "How do you use your back muscles in the first place?" and "Which muscles do you use when pulling?"
First of all, do you ever consciously think about using your back muscles when you go about your daily activities in your daily life? Most people probably don't have that feeling or awareness. That's how difficult it is to be conscious of your back muscles at first.
By using the power grip at an early stage, you will be able to change your awareness of your back muscles. In other words, you will be able to "use your back muscles better."
Beginners may be worried, thinking, "I'm a beginner, so I don't need it," "I'm still a beginner, so such professional equipment is too much of a hurdle..." or "It seems kind of embarrassing..." but that's not the case at all.
In fact, power grips bring such dramatic changes to your training that many people think, "I wish I had started using them sooner!!!"
Power grips are a gear that we recommend even beginners to try out right away.
Again, there is absolutely no need to be confused or anxious about whether you need it or not because you are a beginner!!

4. Differences from wrist straps
→ GOLD'S GYM (Gold's Gym) Wrist Strap G3500
Another typical piece of training gear that supports grip strength is the wrist strap.
Wrist straps are also gear that are worn around the wrist and the ends are wrapped around equipment to assist with grip strength and make training more effective.
Both power grips and wrist straps are primarily used for back training and support grip strength, but there are some key differences between them:

■Setting
The biggest advantage of the Power Grip compared to the wrist strap is that it is extremely easy to set up. The Power Grip takes just a few seconds to set up. On the other hand, the wrist strap is difficult to set up due to its structure, and takes about 10 to 20 seconds.
Considering the effort required for each set, power grips are likely to be less stressful.
■Grip strength
On the other hand, wrist straps have better grip (holding power).
Due to the way the wrist straps are wrapped around the body, the grip is unlikely to come off, allowing you to train with confidence even with extremely heavy free weights.
Some people use power grips for everyday training, while others use wrist straps for extremely heavy deadlifts and shrugs.
■ Versatility
Power grips are more versatile.
The wrist strap you choose will depend on the type of training exercise and the grip shape of the bar or machine you are using. For example, if the grip of the machine is covered with non-slip rubber, it may take a lot of effort to set up the wrist strap.
On the other hand, power grips do not have this problem, and unless the grip is extremely thick, they can be used with any bar, grip, or event. Power grips are an all-purpose tool.
■So, which one do you recommend?
Conclusion: If you're unsure, we recommend the Power Grip.
Because of its ease of setup and versatility, we recommend power grips as the first piece of gear you should get.
Unless you have any particular preferences for wrist straps, you can't go wrong with the Power Grip.
However, both power grips and wrist straps are ultimately just gear, tools.
The best thing to do is to understand the advantages and disadvantages of each and use them wisely. It's best to choose the right one based on the type of exercise, the shape of the machine, and even your own personal preference.
With the above in mind, if you're unsure, we recommend getting the power grips first, and then the wrist straps once you've gotten used to them.
By the way……
Even if you start with the power grips, you'll probably want to get the wrist straps as you progress.
